Just north of Punta del Este downtown and a good distance away its high-rise chaos, a series of recently renovated beach clubs are making a splash in local nightlife. Located along the vast white sand dunes of Playa Brava, this modern one-story beach club is set in the middle of a concrete parking lot with tunnel-like entrance of translucent glass. Beam ceiling with strewn canvas connects a series of large rooms with teakwood floors and long central bar of tufted suede. Large circular chandeliers hang from the ceiling, catching the occasional laser ray and fog storm from the club's visual display. Having recently completed a thorough renovation, the revamped patio area and adjacent beach frontage are attracting international deejays for afternoon lounge sessions and nightly theme parties throughout spring and summer. The crowd is becoming progressively more upscale, luring determined-to-dance visitors from as far away as La Barra and Jose Ignacio.
Tips
You’ll only encounter a line during peak Christmas-New Year’s and Carnival weeks. English-speakers and those with model looks should cut to the front of the line for immediate entrance, which we still don’t fully undertsand.
Last Word
Renovated beach club offers afternoon lounge scene and prime DJ events in one of Punta’s coolest new club spaces.
